Neither girl could have guessed what came next. The pair were in the process of changing clothes when the fire alarm sounded. It was right after ball practice and neither one of the girls wanted to head to their modeling gig dressed in their gym shorts and T-shirts, so they had returned to the empty dorm to freshen up a bit. Pausing in the middle of dressing the two exchanged a glance of shock and started toward the nearest exit. Outside the door of their quite dorm room and down the hall he had pulled the fire alarm right after tossing his concoction into a vacant room. Combining brake fluid with bleach he caused a chemical reaction that would rapidly fill the building with smoke, a thick, white choking stench that would cover his covert movements.
When the girls burst from their room in a panic, neither one anywhere near fully dressed, he ran toward them, waving his arms and pointing toward the back stairs. "That way!" He commanded, his voice distorted by his breathing mask, the visor hiding his features from the unsuspecting pair. "Head that way!" Clothed head to toe in fire fighting regalia as he was, neither girl questioned his presence, or how quickly he had managed to get there. Instead, both turned on their bare heels and ran as quickly as they could their the gathering, suffocating smoke. He followed, pushing them ahead of him and grinning into his respirator in spite of himself. Both girls ran down the stairs, taking them two at a time even minus their shoes.
He pushed them toward the open back of the white cargo van, yelling as he did so, "Get in, we've got to get out of here!" Neither questioned why they should get into the back of an empty van when fleeing a supposedly burning building. Once they were both inside he slammed the doors each in turn and removed his respirator with a sigh of satisfaction. Everything had gone perfectly according to plan. He knew the girls would still be disoriented from their panic stricken flight from the building and that they would only now be looking around at the bare metal walls of the van. A moment later he heard a tiny fist pound the side of the van and a muffled demand to know what was going on.
He opened the drivers door and listened as they pounded on the smooth steel wall behind him a moment before twisting a small valve open that he had carefully installed beneath the seat. Small tanks filled with a sedative began to discharge their contents through tiny nozzles that opened into the airtight confines that was the back of the van. The pounding grew louder and more furious as the girls noticed the gas and became desperate. He knew that their antics would only speed the sedative into their lungs and by association, their bloodstream’s. Soon the pounding faded and he tossed his helmet into the seat beside him, climbing in.
It was then that he heard the sound of running feet and looked back to see another girl stumble down the stairs behind him.
"Help! Thank God, a fireman!" She more or less fell into his arms and he steadied her before reaching for something in the floorboard. "I thought we were all dead for sure!" Pulling a release that would flood the vans cargo compartment with air he prevented the unconscious pair from suffocating while he dealt with this interloper. Allowing himself a moment to compose his face, he hefted the bottle marked oxygen and pulled the mask from where it was clipped on the side.
"Easy, now." He soothed, holding the mask up for her. She took it from his with both hands, gasping as she clamped it over her mouth and nose. "Deep, even breaths. That's it."
He helped her hold the mask into place, watching her frantic eyes relax as she realized that she was safe. He placed his left hand behind her head, steadying her as she swayed unsteadily on her feat. He smiled into her big brown eyes as they swam from the sedative she was breathing in. She tried to push the mask away but he held it firmly in place. She clawed at his arms, but the heavy material of his firemans jacket prevented her from leaving so much as a scratch. She was in the process of reaching for his face when she lost consciousness and slumped against him.
Shaking his head, he grinned broadly as he carried her to the back of the van and added her to his earlier catches. Things were going better than expected, he had the two cunts he had come for, and an extra one to boot. Rolling her toward the middle of the metal floor he closed the doors again and headed for the drivers seat. Removing his telltale jacket he tossed it into the floorboard and climbed inside, starting the engine. By the time he reached the end of the street he could hear sirens in the distance. He had neared the end of the next block when the first of the long line of fire engines pulled up outside the deserted dorm, and by the time they were inside he was well on his way to his next stop.
Turning on the radio he hummed along as he drove, heading deeper into the country to a deserted little spot where he knew he wouldn't be bothered.
