Tthe opening paragraph, which might have been too blunt an introduction flows smoothly into a believably feminine narrative. The things that belong in a girl's narrative (qua girl) are there, and those things that would mark it as a boy's narrative ain't; the right details of observation are there, and it's easy to empathize with this central figure--I'm not inclined to say 'protagonist,' though, as there doesn't seem to be much conflict at all, but only (so far) a tumbling experience of a burgeoning senxulaity [sic]. I rather liked the vaguely 'Electra' thing you couple with the apparently accidental, certainly undeliberarted spearing of Maeghan's hymen with her hairbrush, a postmortem relic of her father. It's a psychological bon-bon for thoughtier readers, a sweet side issue that gives Maeghan a depth I see seldom on these blue pages. I look forward to the further development of this story.
