2007-04-02 03:26:27 | Mixed Metaphors XII | I would like to agree with everything that Reader has said about your work.old guy. After reading Mixed Metaphors, I came back in here to suggest that you try to get your story published. Reader appears to have more fiction experience than I do, as all my work experience is in non-fiction publishing. I look forward to reader more of your stories. PoppaClyde |
2007-04-04 02:42:08 | Mixed Metaphors XII | Pornography, is described as: obscene writings, drawings, photographs, or the like, esp. those having little or no artistic merit. Many people have told me, my work is very artistic and has quite a bit of merit. Does that mean it isn’t pornographic, or like beauty, is just in the eye of the beholder? Also one of the greatest Russian writers, Anton Chekhov who died in the summer of 1904, was considered to be a writer of porn by the Russian government of the time. Now just over a hundred years later, he is considered to be a geinus, especially in Russia. With my barely readable scribblings for XNXX, I feel vindicated due to the company of Flaubert and Chekhov and others I have not mentioned. If you wish to send me a personal e-mail, I will supply you with a list. Thanks again. Old Guy. |
2007-04-04 04:21:10 | Mixed Metaphors XII | As far as “trying to use my talent outside porn to earn money.” I’m afraid, according to the US government, I have too much money now and earning more would place me in a higher tax bracket. My understanding of History, as a retired History teacher, has given me some knowledge of many events. One of the Classic novels, “Madam Bovary”, a novel by Gustave Flaubert, was attacked for being obscene and pornography. Flaubert was accused of being a “porn” writer in 1856. A trial began in 1857. Flaubert was acquitted February 7th of the same year. The novel became a bestseller in book form in April 1857, and is now seen as one of the first modern realistic novels. |
2007-04-04 04:23:09 | Mixed Metaphors XII | I’m not positive, but is it OK to begin a sentence with the word Meantime? Shouldn’t it be, “In the meantime?” Maybe it is just my preference of choice. Honestly, even though some of your comments like, “again your talent is awesome!!!” and “your story development is wonderful.” are very nice to hear … with all of the other jibes, taunting, heckling, or jeering remarks you added, they tend to sound more like “left-handed” complements. However, I will accept them in the manner stated. |
2007-04-04 04:25:04 | Mixed Metaphors XII | Yes … thank you for your input. I recall your comments. While I am aware of most of my shortcomings, some people have told me similar things about my work. By the way the word “you” is spelled “you”, not “yhou”. I chalk that error up to typing too fast and not checking your writing. I’m guilty of that also, as you know so well, and have told me in the past. We could all slow down just a little especially when we are “picking” out errors. That is “picking” not “pickeng”, and while my English “usage” could improve a lot … usage not “useage”, I believe, I have improved for this venue. |
