One other reason could be that some of those stories have been on the site for several years, and OG just began sending in his Mixed metaphors stories for less than six months. 03-11-07 - 17:35. 2007-03-13 08:49:19 Mixed Metaphors XI Yes I do spend a lot of time, and I suppose a lot of hot air, defending my work. I believe anyone would if they loved their work and have a desire to bring something special to their readers. That fellow might have a point, and through his comments I did consider that it might be at the top of his head, however the differences between writing thirty-five years for a living and writing for the love of the craft are almost insurmountable.

There are many good writers on this site, and there are also many poor excuses for writers. I just hope the readers will be able to locate the good ones. As far as the “man with a point”, I suppose I should have just said, “I showed you mine, now you show me yours, so put up or shut up.” OG

If you should find yourself in a situation where you are compelled to put a pen to paper, metaphorically, do not give up due to what you have seen written here. There are writers and then, there are writers. You must never challenge the works of Anton Chekhov with, Earnest Hemmingway, as everything they did was different. The beauty of the craft is each writer’s ability to take their thoughts and their dreams and then develop them into characters, locations and situations that are entertaining to the readers.

The strange part is, the words have been available in the Dictionary for a long time and each new writer takes the same old words then juggles them around until they make a good story. Whatever your decision, study the craft and all of its
