2007-05-19 07:46:39 | The Two-Sided Coin ch 1 | The wing with its distinctive tip fuel tanks and landing gear of the first Learjets were little changed from those used by the Swiss fighter prototypes. The tooling for building the aircraft was purchased and moved to Wichita, Kansas, United States, in 1962. On February 7, assembly of the first Learjet was begun. The next year, the company was renamed the Lear Jet Corporation. The original Learjet 23 was a six to eight seater and first flew on October 7, 1963, with the first production model being delivered in October 1964. Just over a month later, Lear Jet became a publicly-owned corporation. |
2007-05-19 07:48:03 | The Two-Sided Coin ch 1 | By the way, if the military wanted a learjet to operate off of a carrier, it could be done. Don’t forget learjets are the starting point for what became the very symbol of the "biz jet" started life as an abortive attempt by a Swiss aircraft company to build a new ground-attack fighter aircraft, the FFA P-16 of 1955. Although this effort proved unsuccessful and by 1960 efforts to produce the warplane had ceased, the basic structure of this aircraft was seen by Bill Lear and his team as a good starting point to the development of a business jet, which was originally intended to be called the SAAC-23. |
2007-05-19 07:49:33 | The Two-Sided Coin ch 1 | With all of your corrections, you may have inadvertently given information to Osama bin Laden and his group of idiots in Al Qaeda. It is OK to write comments about these stories, which are for the most part entertainment, but please think before you act and don’t give out any factual esoteric information. As I honestly do not believe there are any stupid Marines, you must be a navy man. What was the saying in WW2, “A slip of the lip can sink a ship?” |
2007-05-19 07:51:22 | The Two-Sided Coin ch 1 | To 05-15-07 – 06:35 you are a navy man, correct? Either Navy, or a very stupid marine. Maybe a “yellow shirt”? I don’t know which of us is dumber however, as here I sit writing a letter at 3:30am, to a person who has no idea of what anything is about. When I write a story, I include benign facts that everyone has knowledge of. If I were to give out facts on sex that were not true, everyone …sister and brother alike would write back and tell me I was full of it. When I place information, especially; military information in a story, I want it to sound correct without actually being correct. |
2007-05-20 00:43:55 | The Two-Sided Coin ch 1 | Just corrections to your story, any one can read the papers. The original Lear Jet was a fighter prototype, but WAS NOT designed for carriers, the launching alone would rip the nose gear off. Use the US-3A, was a modified S-3A to carry people & cargo over long distances. Nothing against Marines, I've worked side by side with them over 17 years and will again if needed. but what I said is totally true. They do not belong to the Special Forces Command, and nowhere did I say they were stupid. Nice try on trying to switch the focus to me with OBL, he's much smarter than to believe whats written here. I obsereve OPSEC all the time. Oh yeah the ronald reagan, just log into the navy website, ANYONE can, it tells you where the ships are home ported and if they are at sea. DO NOT imply fraternization between enlisted and officers, you did more harm there (to both Marines and Sailors) than not getting your facts straight. I'm not a yellow shirt, I belonged to a VFA squadron, you should talk ot a yellow shirt, you might learn something. Or better yet talk to a marine. |
